The grey and white tuxedo cat who ran for Canada's Prime Minister office in 2015, Earl Grey, comes from a very political family. His brother Tuxedo Stan was in politics first, starting the Tuxedo Party of Canada Cat Welfare Society in 2012.

The brothers came from humble beginnings when their mom was brought into a veterinary clinic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The vet, Dr. Hugh Chisholm, realized she was expecting. Once the litter of four male kittens were born, the vet decided to adopt two of them. At eight weeks old, brothers Tuxedo Stan and Earl Grey moved to a quiet property just outside of the city, fondly referred to as Catopia.

The pair joined three other cats, two dogs, two guinea pigs and a bunch of fish.
